This issue goes to press as the nation comes to grips with the violent attack that breached the Capitol. Such actions cannot be condoned, and those responsible must be held accountable. How we perform the accountability actions will be the real test to determine whether we cement division or truly come together as Americans. We need to remember we are all Americans and, in the end, we will either succeed or fail together.
WEST 2021 Conference Postponed—New Dates Confirmed
The Naval Institute and AFCEA International have decided to postpone WEST 2021—originally scheduled for this month—in light of the ongoing situation with COVID-19. Maritime Security Dialogue
The Naval Institute and the Center for Strategic and International Studies will host a virtual Maritime Security Dialogue event on Tuesday, 2 February at 1000. The discussion will address “U.S. Navy: Setting the Theater in the Arctic” with Admiral Robert P. Burke, U.S. Navy, Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe/Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa, and Commander, Allied Joint Forces Command Naples, as the featured speaker. Emerging and Disruptive Technologies Essay Contest—Sponsored by MITRE
The deadline for this year’s Emerging and Disruptive Technology Essay Contest is 28 February. Contributors are asked to predict the next technologies that will disrupt or change the military, describe how they will be used by or against the military, and discuss ways to field them quickly and effectively so the United States and its allies can maintain a warfighting edge.
