The Naval Institute is grateful for the generosity of all our amazing donors who have supported the Power to Inform, Convene, and Inspire Campaign, which will come to a close on 31 December. Our deepest thanks to the following individuals whose participation thus far in 2021 distinguishes them as members of our annual-donor societies: the Alfred Thayer Mahan Society, Stephen B. Luce Society, The 1873 Society, and The Leadership Circle. Special thanks to the growing number of supporters making their contributions through monthly sustaining gifts.

Advantageous Year-end Giving

A gift to the Naval Institute Foundation of appreciated stock you’ve held for more than one year can be more beneficial to you than making a gift of cash—and is one of several great ways you can help strengthen the Naval Institute. Subject to certain limitations (check with your tax advisor) you can take a charitable deduction for the stock’s fair market value on the day you give it away. You also will avoid capital gains taxes on the increase in value over time, which you might have paid had you sold the stock and then made a cash donation.

Should you choose to make a donation by transferring shares of stock—thank you! Please contact Sue Sweeney at (410) 295-1054 or at [email protected] for details on transferring to the Foundation’s Merrill Lynch account.

Another option for support: The Naval Institute Foundation is fully eligible to receive grants from donor-advised funds.

Of course, every person’s tax situation is different. The information provided here is general in nature and is not a substitute for advice from a tax professional. You should consult your tax advisor with respect to your particular situation.
