Forward-Deployed Coastal Patrol Ships to U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, Bahrain
Ten coastal patrol ships (PCs) are permanently stationed in Manama, Bahrain. Five of them have provided dedicated coastal patrol capability to the Fifth Fleet area of operation since 2006. PCs provide the U.S. Navy with a fast, reliable platform that can respond to emergent requirements in a shallow-water environment. The primary mission of these ships is coastal patrol and interdiction surveillance—an important aspect of littoral operations outlined in the Navy’s maritime strategy.
