The 30th anniversary of the NATO Sea Sparrow Project was celebrated at NATO Headquarters in Brussels in October 1998. Highlighting the international cooperation behind NATO's largest and most successful weapon project, the celebration focused on the growth of the undertaking from its four country beginning to its present support of systems on more than 150 ships. Of special interest was the forecast of the role that the project will play in the development of self-defense weapons for the early 21st century.
