All around the computer world, a warning sounds: Beware the year 2000. How have we gotten into this predicament, and how will we get out of it?
Since the invention of computers, technology has exploded. Computers have become faster, smaller, and more efficient. Constantly forging ahead, seldom looking at the big picture, living in a virtual world, the computer industry is headed for a reality check. When the clock strikes midnight and we rush into the year 2000, computers all over the world will begin to crash. It may be undetectable at first, but ultimately they will fail to operate properly-unless corrective action is taken soon. Without adequate preparation, the countdown to the year 2000 will be a countdown to disaster.
