Thomas B. Allen is well known for his writing on the subjects of espionage and military history. His books include Tories: Fighting for the King in America’s First Civil War (Harper, 2010) and Declassified: 50 Top-Secret Documents That Changed Military History (National Geographic, 2008). He is also the coauthor with Norman Polmar of CNN War in the Gulf: From the Invasion of Kuwait to the Day of Victory and Beyond (Turner Publishing, 1991).
Commander Benjamin F. Armstrong, U.S. Navy, is a naval aviator and helicopter pilot who has served as an HH-46D search-and-rescue and special warfare pilot, an advanced flight instructor, and as the officer-in-charge of an MH-60S Armed Helo Detachment deployed in 2011–12 with the USS Bataan (LHD-5) and 22d MEU. He is the editor of 21st Century Mahan (2013) and 21st Century Sims (2015), both published by the Naval Institute Press.
Lieutenant Commander Dwight Hughes, U.S. Navy (Ret.), a 1967 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, served in ships ranging from destroyers to aircraft carriers and with river forces in Vietnam. He planned and conducted convoy exercises with over 20 ships of the Maritime Prepositioned Force. He holds an MA in political science and an MS in information-systems management. His first book, A Confederate Biography: The Cruise of the CSS Shenandoah, was published by the Naval Institute Press in 2015.
Michael D. Hull is a military historian and has contributed extensively to numerous magazines and the Eisenhower Center for Military Studies’ World War II Guide. He was a longtime newspaper reporter, copy editor, layout editor, news editor, columnist, feature writer, and book reviewer on both sides of the Atlantic. He has also published poetry and is a veteran of the British Army.
Joe Johnston wrote for American Forces Radio and Television Service for over ten years. He is the author of The Mack Marsden Murder Mystery: Vigilantism or Justice (Missouri History Museum, 2011) and String Him Up: The History of Frontier Justice in Missouri (Mountain Press, 2014). His writing has appeared in numerous newspapers and periodicals including History Happens Here, America’s Civil War, True West, Wild West, Texas Monthly, and “D” Magazine.
Otto Kreisher is an independent defense reporter who writes regularly for Seapower, Semper Fi, Leatherneck, Naval Forces, and Air Force magazines as well as several web-based news outlets. He was an enlisted Marine and served in an artillery battery before entering the Navy flight-training program as a naval aviation cadet and later served as a bombardier-navigator. He and his wife, Tina, have three children and six grandkids.
Adam Nettina is a freelance writer and former editor for the Naval Institute Press who is currently a graduate student at Abilene Christian University. He has published articles with Military History magazine and On Point: The Quarterly Journal of Army History. He specializes in creative nonfiction topics in military history, Christianity, and college athletics.
