BRIGADIER GENERAL DAVID L. ODOM

Director, Expeditionary Warfare (OPNAV N95)

Brigadier General David L. Odom is the Director, Expeditionary Warfare Division (OPNAV N95).   

A native of Hartsville, South Carolina, Brigadier General Odom graduated from The Citadel and was commissioned in 1991.  He has served as an infantry officer at all levels, including command of India Company, 3d Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment; 3d Battalion 8th Marine Regiment during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM; and 4th Marine Regiment in Okinawa, Japan.

Brigadier General Odom has served on staff at The Basic School; the Infantry Officer Course; the MAGTF Staff Training Program; and at III Marine Expeditionary Force.
 
He completed a joint assignment with United States Special Operations Command in the Future Operations Directorate (J-35) in Tampa, Florida from August 2010 to August 2013.

As a General Officer, he has served as the Assistant Division Commander, 2d Marine Division; the Commanding General, Task Force Southwest 19.2 in Helmand and Nimroz Provinces, Afghanistan; and as the Deputy Commanding General, II Marine Expeditionary Force / Commanding General, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade. 
 
Brigadier General Odom is a distinguished graduate of The Basic School; Amphibious Warfare School; the Marine Corps Command and Staff College; the School of Advanced Warfighting; and the Marine Corps War College.  He holds masters’ degrees in military, operational, and strategic studies. He completed the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program in October 2012.
