Graduated from Yale University in 1946, Dr. Huntington served in the U. S. Army and then continued his studies at the University of Chicago (M.A., 1948) and Harvard University (Ph.D., 1951). In 1952–53 he was a consultant to the Brookings Institution in connection with a study of federal defense policy and expenditures. Currently, as an assistant professor in the Department of Government at Harvard, he teaches a course in “Government and Defense,” one of the few courses given in any American college on national security policy and civil-military relations.
