Lieutenant Schmidt graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2013. After completing flight training in 2017, he flew F/A-18s and deployed twice as a junior officer with Strike Fighter Squadron 22. Since 2021, he has been serving in Meridian, Mississippi, as an advanced jet flight instructor in Training Squadron 9.
