Seaman Stanford completed his boot training at Sampson Naval Training Station in 1944 and then went through the Radio School at the same station. After further training at the special Advanced Radio School at Great Lakes, he went to the west coast where he is now on duty at the Naval Radio Station, Mare Island, California.
