Mr. Halpern has been a professor of history at Florida State University since 1965. He is the author of The Naval War in the Mediterranean, 1914-1918 (Annapolis: Naval Institute Press, 1987) and A Naval History of World War I (Annapolis: Naval Institute Press, 1994).
