Commander Petersen is the deputy staff judge advocate of the Coast Guard’s Seventh District. He enlisted in the Coast Guard at age 18 and later attended the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and law school. He has served on board cutters, at the Coast Guard Legal Service Command, the Office of Budget and Programs, and as a congressional fellow in the House of Representatives Subcommittee on Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation.
