Ms. May is an independent researcher. She was educated at Oxford University and the University of London and often works with her father, the naval researcher George Lewis, with a focus on the reevaluation of the history and historiography of 20th-century polar explorers (Robert Falcon Scott, Roald Amundsen). Their findings have been published in a series of research articles for Polar Record (Cambridge University Press, 2012 onward).
