Mr. Brown is a co-chairmen of a Marine Forensics Panel sponsored by his and Mr. Garzke's respective affiliated organizations, the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) and the Royal Institute of Naval Architects. They are currently at work studying other well-known ocean wrecks and their relationship to present-day ship design.
