A graduate of the Naval Academy in 1921, Rear Admiral Brown’s World War II experience included commanding the CVE Kalanin Bay and carrier Hornet, duty as Chief of Staff to Commander Fast Carrier Task Group, and service in the Joint and Combined Chiefs of Staff Organizations in Washington. He participated in operations in the Marshalls and Marianas, Palau, Leyte Gulf, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. Since VJ Day he has served at the Air University and the Naval War College where he is now Chief of Staff.
