Major Kimmins is assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, to design and inaugurate a short take-off and vertical-landing landing signal officer school. He commissioned into the Marine Corps through the Platoon Leaders Class program and, on receiving his naval aviator wings, was assigned to the AV-8B Harrier. After deployments in 2014, 2016, and 2018, he transitioned to the F-35B and deployed on board HMS Queen Elizabeth in 2021.
