First Sergeant Smart is a company first sergeant at The Basic School. An 18-year active-duty Marine, he has served as a Marine Corps formal schoolhouse instructor, a change advocate for NavalX and deputy director for the Centers of Adaptive Warfighting, and an enlisted development and investment analyst for the Talent Management Strategy Group. He is a graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School.
