Graduating from Kent State University, Ohio, in 1936, Mr. Van Wyen was a member of the faculty there and Coordinator of Civilian Pilot Training and War Training Service programs from 1939 through 1943. He was commissioned in the Naval Reserve in 1944 and assigned to the Aviation History Unit of Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Air. Released to inactive duty in 1946, he continued in a civilian status with, and is currently employed by, the Aviation History Unit.
