With the constant drone of two 3,450-hp Wright engines reverberating in their heads, low above the South Vietnamese coastline in August 1965, the 11-man crew of a Martin SP-5B Marlin most likely never thought of themselves as alone. Based in the Philippines, the Marlins of Patrol Squadron (VP) 40 rotated to Vietnam operating with seaplane tenders for Operation Market Time missions.
