As an independent, non-partisan forum for defense issue debate, the U.S. Naval Institute offers a wealth of expert security issue analysis, as well as such unique historical resources as the world's largest private collection of military photos – and oral histories gathered from hundreds of notable military men and women.

Dozens of additional experts, listed here by subject area, are available to assist journalists reporting on defense issues. Some are USNI staff members. Others have written books published by the Naval Institute Press, or been published in the Institute's Proceedings and Naval History magazines.
