-John Donne (1572-1631)
PEACEFUL FOR NOW This idyllic scene, taken some time before November 1935 off Diamond Head, Hawaii, portends little of what the fates have in store for either the Sailors or the ships in the distance. There is little to tell the aircraft carriers apart. They are the sisters Lexington (CV-2) and Saratoga (CV-3). This and other photographs are available as prints through the Naval Institute Photo Archive.
