Richard J. Cox received a B.A. with honors in history from Towson State College in 1972 and is currently completing an M.A. in American History at the University of Maryland. He worked as a graduate assistant in archeology for the St. Mary’s City Commission in St. Mary's City, Maryland, in 1972. He edited the Calvert Family Papers for microfilm in 1972-73 for the National Historical Publications Commission and the Maryland Historical Society. He worked as curator of manuscripts for the Maryland Historial Society from 1973-76 and now serves as manuscripts librarian/library coordinator. Mr. Cox has published articles on Maryland history and genealogy in the American Archivist, Maryland Historical Magazine, Maryland Genealogical Society Bulletin, National Genealogical Society Quarterly, Historical Magazine of the Protestant Episcopal Church, Manuscripts, and the Maryland State Medical Journal. He has also composed microfilm guides to the Calvert papers (1973) and Mordccai Gist papers (1975) at the Maryland Historical Society.
