Captain J. B. Perkins III, U. S. Navy, is currently Deputy and Chief of Staff, Commander Naval Surface Force, U. S. Pacific Fleet. He commanded SAG Bravo during Operation Praying Mantis. Captain Perkins commanded Destroyer Squadron Nine. He commanded the USS Schofield (FFG-3) and has served in the USS Downes (FF-1070), John Willis (DE-1027), Henderson (DD-785), Charles N. Roan (00-853), and the Saratoga (CVA-60). He has also served as Aide and Flag Secretary to Commander, Cruiser Destroyer Group Five and in the ASW section on the staff of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations (Surface Warfare). He is a graduate of the Naval War College, the Naval Postgraduate School, the Armed Forces Staff College, and the U. S. Naval Academy, Class of 1964.
