Dr. Friedenberg is an orthopedic surgeon and professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is the author of Medicine under Sail: Health Care in the Age of Sail (Annapolis, MD: Naval Institute Press, 2002).
