A graduate of the University of Southern California in 1924, Mr. Wheeler was first commissioned in the U. S. Naval Reserve in 1934. Before retiring in 1950, he had ten years of active duty in the U. S. Navy including assignments as assistant district intelligence officer of the 11th and 15th Naval Districts. Mr. Wheeler was for thirteen years the marine editor of the Los Angeles Evening Herald. & Express. Many of his articles and photographs have appeared in yachting and shipping publications.
