Sir James, a retired British ambassador, is best known for his Gunboat Diplomacy 1919-1979 and Navies in Violent Peace (St. Martin’s Press, 1985 and 1989, respectively). His newest work. Intervention at Abadan, will be released by St. Martin’s Press later this year.
