Robert J. Hanyok is a former historian with the National Security Agency and a coauthor of West Wind Clear: Cryptology and the Winds Message Controversy-A Documentary History (National Security Agency, 2008). His previous publications include Skunks, Bogies, Silent Hounds, and the Flying Fish: The Gulf of Tonkin Mystery, 2–4 August 1964 (National Security Agency, 2001). He recently earned the 2008 Edward S. Miller Prize for his article "Catching the Fox Unaware: Japanese Radio Denial and Deception and the Attack on Pearl Harbor," which appeared in the Autumn 2008 issue of the Naval War College Review.
