Vice Admiral Das retired from the Indian Navy as commander-in-chief of the Eastern Naval Command. He has served as co-chair of the Maritime Security Group in the Council of Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific, writes frequently on strategic and security issues, and is a regular speaker at war colleges in India. He is a distinguished fellow of the Indian Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies.
