Graduated from the Naval Academy in the Class of 1939, Commander Gill served on destroyers and cruisers prior to flight training in 1942. After receiving his wings, he was assigned as Executive Officer of Bombing Squadron 139. In 1946, he completed the Naval Postgraduate course in Aeronautical Engineering, receiving a Masters Degree from M. I. T. After being designated an AED in 1947, he served on COMFAIR- WESPAC Staff. He was assigned to the U. S. Naval Academy from 1948-1952. Commander Gill is author of the textbook, Gas Turbines and Jet Propulsion and coauthor of the textbook, Internal Combustion Engines published by the U. S. Naval Institute, 1952. He is now Assistant Director of the Ships Installations Division, Bureau of Aeronautics.
