Mr. McKenna retired in 1978 as chief warrant officer (W-4/personnel administration), having served 30 years in the Coast Guard. He was awarded the Cutterman’s Insignia for service aboard various cutters, and he also served in aviation units, training commands, and district offices. Every three years or so, he and other CG and VOA veterans of Courier’s time at Rhodes have a reunion, the success of which is measured by the number of broken dishes that lie on the floor after the typical Greek feast!
