Commander Baumert is a surface warfare officer who has served as nautical and operations officer on LPDs and frigates in the French and German navies. After short tours in the German Ministry of Defence and participation in the General Staff Course at the German Command and Staff College in Hamburg, he served as a NATO strategic defense planner at NATO’s Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in Mons, Belgium. He currently is as an executive officer on board a German frigate in Wilhelmshaven.
