Lieutenant Skidmore is the commanding officer of the USCGC Wahoo (WPB-87345) in Port Angeles, Washington. Before her assignment on Wahoo, she was a deck watch officer and the first lieutenant on board the  USCGC Thetis (WMEC-910). She enlisted in the Coast Guard in 2017 and accepted selection for the College Student Precommissioning Initiative in 2019. After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Houston–Clear Lake, she graduated from Officer Candidates School in November 2021.
