Captain Garofolo, a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, was chief of the Coast Guard Office of Work-Life (2017–19) and has taught at the Coast Guard Academy and Yale University. He is the author of Dickey Chappelle Under Fire (Wisconsin Historical Society Press, 2015).
