Captain Richardson is the chair of the Political Science Department and Admiral Johnson Professor of Leadership and Ethics at the U.S. Naval Academy. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from George Washington University and teaches courses in civil-military relations, American politics, and naval leadership. He commanded the USS Porter (DDG-78) as a surface warfare officer.
