Commander Brendan Stickles, U.S. Navy, is currently the Special Advisor for Defense in the Office of the Vice President of the United States. Previously, he was the commanding officer of Electronic Attack Squadron (VAQ) 130, a carrier-based EA-18G Growler squadron. Brendan majored in history at the U.S. Naval Academy and graduated with the class of 1999. He holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina, an MPA from Harvard, and was the Navy’s Federal Executive Fellow at The Brookings Institution. Over his career Brendan has safely flown more than 3,500 flight hours and logged over 550 carrier arrested landings in EA-6B Prowlers, F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, and EA-18G Growler aircraft.
