Lieutenant Pedersen is the navigator on board the USS Patriot (MCM-7) in Sasebo, Japan, and was distinguished as Ship Handler of the Year for Mine Countermeasures Squadron 7, as well as for the entire Navy’s Surface Force in 2020. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri's NROTC program, commissioning in 2016 and graduating cum laude.
