Lieutenant Commander Armstrong has spent 13 years in the Coast Guard and is currently the naval engineering department head at Base New Orleans. He has served as engineer officer on a 210-foot medium-endurance cutter and as port engineer for the Surface Forces Logistics Center Patrol Boat Product Line. He attended Penn State University, earning graduate degrees in industrial and mechanical engineering with a focus on AM.
