Body

The Naval Institute Foundation accepts gifts from donor-advised funds and appreciated securities, along with cash, checks, and credit cards.

Donations to the U.S. Naval Institute provide funding for mission-centric activities, to preserve naval history, and to create useful tools to make information and content available when and where it is needed most. Whether designated for a specific project, such as funding an oral history, USNI News, or Proceedings, or unrestricted to be used wherever the need is greatest, gifts make possible everything the Naval Institute does to remain the open, independent, nonpartisan forum for the Sea Services.

Donor-Advised Funds.
A donor-advised fund, which is like a charitable savings account, gives you the flexibility to recommend how much and how often money is granted to the Naval Institute Foundation and other qualified charities. You can recommend a grant or recurring grants now to have an immediate impact or use your fund as a tool for future charitable gifts.

You also can create a lasting legacy by naming the Naval Institute Foundation the beneficiary of the account or a percentage of the fund. With a percentage, you can create a family legacy of giving by naming your loved ones as your successors to continue recommending grants to charitable organizations. Contact your fund administrator for a beneficiary form.

Appreciated Securities.
Appreciated securities (stocks) make excellent charitable gifts and may offer special tax benefits to you. Work with your financial advisor to see if this is a good option for your charitable giving.

To move forward with this option, contact Amanda Ojeda, Foundation Manager, at [email protected] or (410) 295-1062 and provide your contact information, the stock you will be transferring, the name and contact information of your brokerage firm, and the purpose of your gift (restricted to a project or unrestricted for general use). Provide your broker/agent the following information so your shares may be transferred directly to the Naval Institute Foundation:

• Our Broker: Merrill Lynch

 • DTC number: 8862

 • Account number: 707-04070

 • Account name: Naval Institute Foundation, Inc.

 • Account address: 291 Wood Road, Annapolis, MD 21402

The Foundation’s gift acceptance policy states all marketable securities will be sold promptly on receipt.

Tax ID # 52-1814344

IRS Tax Exempt Status: 501(c)(3) public charity
