Lieutenant William M. Corry, Naval Aviator No. 23, at the controls of a Curtiss flying boat. Lt. Corry died in October 1920, as a result of inhaling flames while attempting to rescue a companion from a burning plane in which they had crashed. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. Corry Field, a former auxiliary air station at Pensacola, was named in his memory.
