A blanket toss during the Fourth of July celebrations in Nome, Alaska, in 1955. This picture was snapped by a photographer from the Coast Guard icebreaker Northwind (WAGB-282) on her stop at Nome while enroute to the Arctic. Other highlights of the celebration were a parade, in which men from the Northwind marched, and eating contests.
