Construction of the Jack C. Taylor Conference Center Begins!
On the 18th of September, the Naval Institute broke ground on its dazzling new conference center with hundreds of members, donors, board members, and dignitaries in celebratory attendance. Speaking at the ceremony were the Honorable Thomas B. Modly, Under Secretary of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sean S. Buck, Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy, General Peter Pace, Chair of the Naval Institute Foundation Board of Trustees and 16th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Mr. Andrew C. Taylor, Executive Chairman of Enterprise Holdings of St. Louis, who with his family made the center’s lead donation.
Also lifting shovels were Jo Ann Taylor Kindle of the Crawford Taylor Foundation, Mike Petters, CEO of Huntington Ingalls Industries, major donor David Parks, Admiral Mike Mullen, a Director of Bloomberg Philanthropies and 17th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Honorable Robert Work, Chair of the Naval Institute Board of Directors and former Deputy Secretary of Defense.
Located on the Yard of the Naval Academy in Annapolis, this new, state-of-the-art facility, funded entirely with private donations, will create a physical flagship for the Institute, drawing people into the heart of our historic Independent Forum, benefitting Sailors, Marines, and Coastguardsmen in perpetuity. Construction will proceed for the next 15 months!
