Our New Website
At the end of February, we launched our redesigned Naval Institute website. Early reviews are very positive, and I’m happy to report that Proceedings and Naval History now look as good online as they do in print. One giant improvement our readers and members will notice is that the new site features responsive design—which means it looks terrific on your mobile device. Members will need to create a new login to access their accounts on the site—a small inconvenience for a much better user experience. You also will notice that the top-level navigation bar across the top of the site has been mirrored on our other digital properties, including USNI News, the Naval Institute Blog, and the Naval History Blog. This enables easy navigation across all Naval Institute sites and allows you to keep your shopping cart and login active when browsing back and forth between Proceedings and USNI News, for example. If you notice something you think needs to be fixed or improved, we welcome your feedback!
Save the Dates
The U.S. Naval Institute will host its 146th Annual Meeting on 25 April at CSIS (1616 Rhode Island Ave., NW) in Washington, DC. The event will feature an update on the state of the Institute and recognition of the 2018 Authors of the Year and General Prize Essay Contest winners. The Honorable Ellen Lord, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, will provide keynote remarks before the social reception. We hope you can join us for the meeting or stop by for the reception. Registration and additional information are available at www.usni.org/annualmeeting. This event is made possible with support from USAA, Leonardo DRS, and Lockheed Martin.
Save the date for the next event in the Maritime Security Dialogue series featuring a conversation with Admiral William Moran, Vice Chief of Naval Operations, on 16 April from 1000 to 1100. The discussion will address progress on the recommendations in the Comprehensive Review and Strategic Readiness Review, as well as future priorities of the Navy. Visit www.usni.org/events for information. Support for the 2019 series is provided by Huntington Ingalls Industries.
