The focus of this month’s Proceedings is the Coast Guard. I am proud of the deep connection between the Naval Institute and the Coast Guard—a connection that grows stronger every year with more “orange and white” content in the magazine, in our conferences, and among our book titles. The winner of this year’s annual Coast Guard essay contest is Lieutenant Commander Krystyn Pecora, U.S. Coast Guard, for her essay titled “Ready. Responsive. Relevant?” (See page 32.) Lieutenant Commander Daniel Wiltshire, U.S. Coast Guard, won second prize, and Cadet Evan Twarog, from the Coast Guard Academy, took third place.
