‘If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.’

Anne Bradstreet (1612–1672)

The first major snowfall of 2008 blankets the USS Constitution in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Despite the weather, “Old Ironsides” remained open for free public tours. In 2010, the now 213-year-old frigate is the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world, manned by 67 active-duty Sailors and visited by nearly half a million visitors annually.
