Wearing a partial pressure suit, Chance Vought Aircraft test pilot L. J. ""Jack"" Walton stands atop the fuselage of an F7U Cutlass in 1954. Walton had been a Marine Corps fighter pilot in the Korean War before graduating from the Navy test pilot school at Patuxent River, Maryland, in 1953. He tested the Cutlass and F8U Crusader among other aircraft.
