In this month of Thanksgiving, we are grateful to the thousands of benefactors who have stepped up to help the Naval Institute fulfill its educational mission in 2009. Among our many supporters, it is a pleasure to recognize two groups who have strengthened our efforts in the areas of Oral History and Conferences.

The Tawani Oral History Challenge Met

Earlier this year, the Tawani Foundation of Chicago pledged to match all gifts—up to $40,000—the Naval Institute could raise for its Oral History Program between February and October 2009. Through the generosity of the following supporters, we reached this objective with more than a month to spare:

Record Sponsorship for Defense Forum Washington

Lockheed Martin and Humana Military Healthcare Services took the lead in underwriting Defense Forum Washington 2009, a joint collaboration between the Naval Institute and the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) held in Alexandria, Virginia, in September 2009. This year's program, "Coping with Unseen Injuries: From Battlefield to Homefront," was an unqualified success. We join MOAA in thanking all our corporate partners who supported this event as sponsors and exhibitors:
