Gifts That Live On
The posthumous generosity of two longtime members will help strengthen the Naval Institute in the coming years. We have received the final payment of a bequest from the late Charles W. Godwin of Hallandale, Florida, that brings his cumulative lifetime support to more than $332,000. Retired Army Sergeant Major Godwin, a Northwestern University graduate, joined the Institute in 1966 and remained a member until his death in September 2005.
We were recently advised of a bequest from the estate of Dr. John Durfee Winslow and his wife, Dr. Marcia Ring Winslow, both noted geologists from Raleigh, North Carolina. John Winslow, who joined the Naval Institute in 1950, was a Golden Life Member at the time of his death in January 2004. His widow died in November 2007.
The Naval Institute has established the Quill and Sword Legacy Society to recognize supporters who include the Institute in their estate plans. For more information, contact Lisa Taylor at (410) 295-1063 or at [email protected]
