Lockheed Martin Supports Americans at War
Technology leader Lockheed Martin has agreed to be the premier sponsor of Americans at War, partially underwriting the video series, which is living history as told by veterans. The Americans at War video series is currently airing on most Public Broadcasting System (PBS) stations nationwide. These 90-second vignettes convey powerful and evocative stories of service, pride, and survival by participants in military action from World War I through the present day.
The Americans at War series is an extension of the oral histories being collected and transcribed in print form at the Naval Institute as part of its heritage mission. Financial support from Lockheed Martin and all subsequent partners will enable the Institute to continue the series and to broaden the distribution and outreach of the project, making it more accessible to all Americans, especially young people.
The Naval Institute is actively seeking additional sponsors to assist with the underwriting. To learn more about becoming a sponsor of the Americans at War video series, please contact Matt Schatzle, COO Naval Institute Foundation, at (410) 295-1057 or at [email protected].
Where There's a Will, There's a Way—Your Way
A will is one of the most critical—but often neglected—parts of a sound financial plan. What's surprising is that the rewards from preparing a will are many, and tremendously valuable. So why do so many of us put it off?
For many people, the stumbling block is a number of simple, understandable, but faulty and potentially costly assumptions. While it may seem that common sense would dictate where your assets go or who will take care of your children in the absence of a will, it doesn''t work that way.
your family and friends
A will means the details of your estate can be worked out quickly and easily. Without a will, the state appoints an administrator. In addition to extra layers of bureaucratic red tape, this can also result in more of your estate going toward fees.
favorite charities with more money
A properly prepared will can cut down significantly on the taxes payable out of your estate. You can also ensure your family members get what they need to live comfortably, which may not happen without a will.
The relatively small amount of time and money you need to invest in preparing a will will pay off several times over in more money for your family, friends, or favorite charities.
