The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet isn't just for naval aviators. It's for the Navy.
If you're not already there, put yourself in the position of a sailor anywhere in a carrier battle group that is facing hostile action. Would you prefer to have an extra hundred or so miles between you and the shoreline? Would you prefer that the aircraft in your group return with aslittle-as-possible damage to be repaired between sorties? Would you prefer that the ordnance you hump make its way to actual enemy targets? Would you prefer that the fighting end sooner rather than later?
The Super Hornet represents a significant advancement in naval firepower and survivability. It covers the basics to defeat known and anticipated threats; and it stands ready to accommodate new systems that will defeat threats yet unknown. It is the logical upgrade to the F/A18C/D, and the two-seat F/A-I8F will be a worthy successor to the F-14 Tomcat.
