Littoral warfare is warfare at the sea-air-land interface, exploiting all three media in the most efficient way possible to achieve combat objectives. Such a form of war requires the integrated employment of combined arms, not merely coordination among services fighting their own battles. The Navy-Marine Corps team is pushing forward with its vision of this integrated employment of combined arms, adopting joint command and control architectures, doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures where they fit, and leading the evolution of jointness toward greater integration when they don't fit.
